Important information regarding LD Hair Removal
- PRIOR TO THE SESSION:
The area that is about to be treated must NOT be exposed to the sun or tanning machines for at least 7 days prior to the treatment session.
Self-tanning or tan-developing products must NOT be applied to the area for at least 14 days prior to the treatment session.
Do NOT perform any hair removal techniques (waxing, creams or plucking) which affects the hair follicle root by extraction or otherwise for at least 2-4 weeks prior to the treatment session. The only hair removal method we recommend is shaving.
Do NOT discolour the hair for at least 15 days prior to the treatment session.
Do NOT use makeup on the area to be treated on treatment day.
Do NOT use cosmetics which contain glycolic acid or retinol for at least 7 days prior to the treatment.
Do NOT apply deodorant before or after the session if you are removing your armpit hair.
Do NOT apply (on the day) creams, gels or body oils on the treated area. In case you are suffering from recurring labial herpes or recurring genital herpes (more than once per month), tell us this and take the necessary measures at least one day before the treatment session.
You MUST go to the session with the area to be worked on perfectly shaved! It is essential that you shave either on the day or the prior evening at most.
Avoid the administration of medicines (for example, antibiotics): in case you are undertaking a medical treatment, you MUST tell the specialist prior to attending the session.
You MUST NOT be displaying any sort of viral infection or inflammation that may lead to fevers, either local or general fevers.
- AFTER THE SESSION:
It is normal for a mild redness or inflammation to develop over the treated areas. This is a sign that the treatment was efficient and successful. This can last for up to 72 hours.
You can lead a normal routine, exercise etc. You may shower/wash the treated area after the treatment. Please avoid going to a sauna or very hot water for at least 24 hours. Avoid going to a swimming pool for the next 72 hours.
On the treated area, we recommend to apply some hydrating aloe vera gel for a 7 day period, and to apply body moisturiser.
You MUST NOT expose the treated area to sunlight by sunbathing or tanning machines for at least 7 days after the procedure. Apply a minimum of an SPF30 protection after the session, especially on the face if you are out and about in the daytime.
- OTHER IMPORTANT FACTS:
The recommended number of sessions for the removal of the hair varies for every person, according to multiple factors (such as their skin’s phototype, the colour of the skin and the thickness of the hair follicles, but also on the density of the hair follicles, the bodily area being worked on and the previously used hair removal methods, such as waxing).
The system allows for the elimination of a number of hair follicles, however there is always a part of these follicles that are in a stand-by state at the time of the procedure and consequently do not get removed quickly. Hence, not all hair is removed at once, and therefore requires the attendance of multiple sessions to ensure excellent and noticeable results.
- NORMAL SECONDARY EFFECTS AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL
It should first be noted that most/all of these side effects will never occur, assuming that the proper steps/advice are taken before and after the treatment sessions by the customer, such as practising regular and reasonable hygiene. These secondary effects are normal due to the way the hair removal works, and the customer should not be concerned, should these side effects develop.
These secondary effects can be, albeit unlikely:
- Reddening of the area that has been worked on
- Hypopigmentation (lighter patches of skin colour)
- Hyperpigmentation (darker patches of skin colour)
- Development of vesicles (small wart-like spots)
- Development of papules in the irritated area
- Mild itching
- Mild burning sensation
- It’s also possible for people of darker skin colours to develop small, brown, crust-like areas on the skin. These are temporary and will fall off on their own within a couple of weeks, leaving the area slightly lighter in colour. This will also recover within a matter of weeks.
